meeting hannah

My college roommate, Allyson, came through to visit us and brought the newest addition of her family to meet us. Allyson, Aaron and Ellie got to add Hannah to their family in February after months of waiting to adopt her from China. She is beautiful! And such a happy, easy-going little girl. She has a hilarious giggle and loves to give kisses. It was such a joy to get to spend some time with her. Karen Gillette was another of our roommates, so her family came over, too. It was a really fun night. If we could have only had our other roommate, Briggette, there with her family, the night would have been perfect. It was pretty chaotic as it was! The kids got along great, and Hannah enjoyed being the center of the adults' attention while the big kids entertained themselves. The big kids put on a play for us about a pet shop. The monkey ears and tail that we have got some good use as did our large stash of stuffed animals.
Allyson, Aaron, Ellie and Hannah have been living in Portland, OR for about the last 10 years. Recently, Aaron got word that he had a job in Atlanta, GA with an organization there that does work with young church leaders. He and Allyson are actually looking for a house there as I type. They sold their house in Portland in about 48 hours! And things have just fallen into place for them to make this cross-country move in time to get Ellie settled before she starts Kindergarten this fall. We are very excited to have another reason to visit the Atlanta area and really look forward to hearing about the work that Aaron (and Allyson) will get to do in their new corner of the world. This move puts all four college roommates in the South/Southwest, so I'm hoping we'll have a better chance of getting ourselves all together some time in the near future.

Makenzie, Ben's future wife, is not in the picture because it was very, very late and the kids were kind of on their last leg. If the camera had x-ray vision, you could see Makenzie balled up in the corner by the front door, very unhappy (for some reason that I can't recall).
