memorial day

We invited our life group out to our house for a Memorial Day get-together tonight. The kids had some good old-fashioned fun with the water hose while the adults sat on the patio enjoying the kids' antics and each others' company.

The big kids (Will and Libby) organized some competitions and races for the younger ones. This picture is Ben telling me that he was the fastest, "faster than Will, Mommy!" Libby and Will are such sweet souls. They both were constantly giving words of encouragement and cheering on the younger kids. Will came up to me near the end of the night and said, "Mommy, I am seeing everyone do such good things out there, I think that they need some awards. Can I make them some awards?" How could I say no to that!?! So, he and Libby sat on the patio and made some ribbons, which they then handed out in a ceremony to wrap up the night. The younger kids didn't really get that into it, but Ben, Will and Libby loved it! They were thrilled with the awards they gave each other for things like "fastest", "best splashing" and "best friend". It was just so sweet.
