good cooker

Ben loves to help me cook. He's always anxious to help me in the kitchen. And I love it. It's good one-on-one time for us. I even taught him how to crack eggs by himself. Tonight, we were home by ourselves while Jim and Will were off to another soccer game, and we decided to bake cookies. Which, in our house means chocolate chip cookies. I am not sure my kids know that another kind of homemade cookie exists. At least to their dad, making cookies equals chocolate chip.

As I was posting this, I had a sweet memory pop up of Ben telling me at the dinner table, "Mommy, you're a good cooker." He had to have been about 3 and 1/2 at the time. Now, he's the one getting to be a good cooker.

I am constantly thankful to have a front row seat, watching my kids grow up & learn new things. But it's also unbelievable how fast this whole parenting thing is flying by.
