will digs university for young people

Baylor University runs a program for kids in the summer called University for Young People. It is geared towards students who are identified as gifted and talented and happens to be held at Will's school, Hillcrest PDS. This was Will's second year to attend. Last year, they studied space and the international space station. This year, the focus was on archaeology. Perfect for the current Indiana Jones craze in my house. Will spent the week studying archaeology, digging in the courtyard for artifacts, and learning about strata, grids, data collection, inferences and such. Our favorite journal entry from the week reads, "day 4 whether macks a difrins". Only spelled one word right; however, he did get the story right that day: it rained, and they didn't get to dig.

These are some of the "artifacts" he found

with his buddy, Sam; they spent last week together at zoo camp, too

with his teacher, Jennifer Brown, who happened to teach his group last year, too

Will loved it! We enjoyed watching him love it. He's such a fun kid; we're so blessed to call him ours.
