happy father's day

We had a great Father's Day weekend with Jim's parents here visiting us. They had just returned from their 3-week-long trip to Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, and they had lots of great stories to share as well as beautiful pictures. Will and Ben really enjoyed getting to see their Nana and Papoo. We spent Father's Day at the house enjoying each others' company. We set up the tiny pool in the backyard and left the sprinkler running way too long, but the boys really had a great time.

Will in the pool that's almost too small for him!

Ben drying his face after some sprinkler time. The boy doesn't like to have his face wet. So, he'll come over every few minutes and act like he's trying to be sweet, snuggling with me, but what he's really doing is trying to wipe his eyes on my shirt. I finally got smart and left a towel on the table for him.

Jim and his dad spent a good portion of Father's Day working on building an Indiana Jones playset for Will and Ben's little figures. It's amazing...but what else would you expect from Jim Hestons Jr. and Sr.? I'll have to post the finished product. Basically, it's the scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones goes into the ancient temple to get the idol (which he switches out with a bag of sand) and the boulder rolls after him as he races out. Familiar with that one? Well, Jim created all the details from the sandbag to the golden idol to the vines and rocks on the outside, to the rolling boulder, to the masks decorating the walls, to (my least favorite part), the guy who gets impaled by some kind of sharp spear thing coming out of the wall (lovely). Jim and his dad had a great time building it together, and the boys were fascinated, watching them put it together.
