summer

Yesterday began my first official day of summer. I was relieved to be done with work and to have the ability to choose how to spend my days (for a little while at least). The top of my list is to finish a Christmas stocking that I started cross-stitching for Jim 10 years ago. That's right, folks. 10 years. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it and post a picture of it before summer's end.

And we have LOTS of painting to do in the house still. Before we bought this house, we referred to it as "the beige house." Literally everything in it was beige--walls, carpet, tile, kitchen cabinetry. It was definitely a clean slate. So, we'll be painting walls (not just canvases) a bit this summer...the guest room, the playroom, the master bedroom. All no longer beige by summer's end, I hope.

And I'm really looking forward to a couple of trips we're taking. One, our annual trek to the Texas coast with Jim's family. We're headed to Port Aransas this year. And two, a really exciting trip to visit my life-long friend's family in Concord, Massachusetts. My kids have never been out of Texas or on an airplane, so I'm pretty excited to experience those things with them. They are a good age to head out on an adventure like this. We will see Boston & Concord, go whale watching, see a beautiful New England beach, and take a weekend road trip through New Hampshire and Vermont. I can't wait.

Anyhow..just a preview of what's to come...I'm sure my camera will be loaded with pictures to share soon.

Happy Summer!
