We had a great day today, celebrating Ben's 5th birthday with a party in the backyard. All week, the forecast had predicted rain today--a 40% chance--and I had fretted all week about what we would do with 15 kids inside my house! But all that worry unnecessary. We had gorgeous blue skies and 80-degree weather today for the party. The kids seemed to have a blast:

Ben picked camoflage and tanks for his birthday party theme. His gun-control supporting, non-hunting parents went along with it...after all, it's his day, right? Lately, camo has been his clothing style of choice...so, after my friend Jennifer inspired me with a photo of one she made for her nephew, I created the cake of Ben's dreams:
